The Venice I See

Not a guide. Not an itinerary. A way of seeing: A Personal Photography Tour

Venice is often seen through the eyes of tourists—the crowds, the famous landmarks, the well-worn paths. But there is another side to the city, one that reveals itself only to those willing to go beyond the obvious. The Venice I See is a private, personal tour that invites you to experience Venice the way I do—through its quiet streets, its hidden corners, and its real, everyday moments.

This is not your typical tourist tour. We won't be ticking off famous sights or fighting crowds for a perfect view. Instead, we’ll spend the day together, exploring a Venice that’s often overlooked—a Venice that’s still alive with its local culture, its everyday rhythm. You'll discover the places that have touched me over the years, from quiet canals and hidden squares to the bustling life of Venetians going about their daily routines.

This isn’t a photography workshop, though we will touch on various photography styles throughout the day. Whether you're using a professional camera, your phone, or even a sketchbook, the goal is to capture the true essence of Venice through your eyes. You’ll have the chance to experiment with different photography techniques, but the focus is on living in Venice, not just taking photos.

Throughout our time together, I’ll share stories of my relationship with the city—why Venice means so much to me, and why I choose to explore it away from the typical tourist path. It’s about connecting with the city on a deeper level, allowing the sights, sounds, and rhythms of Venice to wash over you.

What to Expect:

  • A relaxed pace: This is your day to absorb Venice without rushing. We’ll take breaks for coffee, drinks, and a quick lunch, but the working time is focused on exploration and discovery.

  • An authentic experience: We’ll visit real Venetian neighbourhoods, meet locals, and see the Venice that’s lived in every day.

  • Photography for all levels: Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just capturing memories on your phone, we’ll explore different ways to photograph Venice’s essence—from street scenes to intimate portraits.

  • A personalised itinerary: The tour is tailored to the light, weather, and your interests, with a focus on the quieter parts of Venice, far from the usual crowds.

Tour Timing:
We typically start early in the morning, around 6-8 am, depending on the season and the light. Venice is at its most magical during these early hours, with the city waking up slowly, offering the perfect backdrop for discovery and reflection.

Tour Length & Price:

  • Length: 6 hours of working time, with breaks for coffee, drinks, and lunch (not counted in the total time). The tour will typically last a minimum of 7/8 hours.

  • Price: €700 for the whole 1-to-1 experience, including all photography guidance and personal storytelling.

Why Choose This Tour?
If you’re looking for more than just a sightseeing trip, if you want to experience Venice at its most authentic, The Venice I Know is for you. It’s about connecting with the city, capturing its spirit, and spending a day in a way that’s both relaxed and inspiring. This tour is not for the typical tourist—it’s for those who want to see Venice as it really is, through the eyes of someone who’s made it home.
